About this event
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, only about 35% of our nation's students overall, and only 21% of students experiencing poverty, are reading proficiently by fourth grade, and once students start to fall behind in reading, they tend to fall faster and further behind their peers with each year. These numbers have not changed significantly in the past 15 years. Featured on Good Morning America and endorsed by The New York Times, Reading Partners empowers communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. DC’s Reading Partners Executive Director Shukarat Adamoh-Faniyan and volunteer and former Board Chair Lois Fingerhut will share with us how the organization works with schools and communities and volunteers to make a significant, measurable impact on students' reading skills.

Host Village: Northwest Neighbors Village
Registration: Registration limited to 100 attendees and is required.
Access: 24 hours before the event, attendees will receive the Zoom link in an email from Northwest Neighbors Village titled "Northwest Neighbors Village Event Reminder” with the event name included.
