CC@H Guest Speaker Series: Healthy Aging with NPR News Health Correspondent Allison Aubrey
About this event
Healthy Aging with NPR News Health Correspondent Alison Aubrey
Tuesday, March 11
1:00 - 2:00 pm on Zoom
When it comes to navigating healthy aging, much of the advice is too general to be helpful. We’ve all heard the recommendations to eat well, move more and get plenty of sleep. So, let’s get granular about changes you can make to maximize your health span. One place to start is the Brain Care Score, developed by physicians at Massachusetts General Hospital. The higher your score on this quiz, the lower your risk of dementia, depression, stroke, and heart attack. Allison will describe the science behind a host of modifiable risk factors linked to longevity, including stress management, feeling a sense of purpose and community.
Allison Aubrey is a long-time health correspondent for NPR News, focused on the science of healthy aging and longevity. Her stories can be heard on Morning Edition and All Things Considered. She’s also a founding host of Life Kit and a contributor to CBS Sunday Morning. She’s the winner of several James Beard Foundation media awards for her coverage of food and nutrition, the recipient of a Washington Press Club award and a New York Press Club award in 2021 for consumer reporting.
