Join us live from the National Museum of the Marine Corps as we explore the role of the United States Marine Corps in world history, as well as their role in the daily culture of the United States.

Located in Triangle, VA, near Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Museum is one of the top tourist attractions in the state, drawing over 500,000 people annually. Its magnificent architectural design features a dramatic 210-foot tilted steel mast and glass atrium inspired by the flag raisings at Iwo Jima. In this virtual gallery tour, the audience is guided through selected Museum exhibits.

Museum highlights include the Leatherneck Gallery which features some of the air and ground equipment essential to Marine Corps operational success. Other Museum highlights include the World War II gallery, which showcases the gripping story of the Pacific campaigns, and the World War I, Korean War, and Vietnam War galleries.

Suspended over the Leatherneck gallery are five aircraft that were turning points in Marine Corps aviation: a Curtiss “Jenny” from the Banana Wars of the 1920´s; a pair of elegant but deadly Corsair fighters from World War II and the Korean War; an SBD Dauntless dive-bomber that equipped so many WWII Marine bombing squadrons; and an AV-8B Harrier “jump jet,” mainstay of Marine aviation in the late 20th and early 21st century. On the ground, an LVT-1 amphibious tractor breaches the defensive log wall on the Pacific Island of Tarawa, while a Sikorsky UH-34D helicopter depicts Marines heading for cover as they exit the helicopter during Operation Starlite in 1965.
