About this event
Instead of our current chaotic, dangerous, and needlessly expensive patchwork of care for frail older adults, the U.S. needs a well-coordinated care model that leverages and supports paid aides, family caregivers, appropriate housing, and new technology.
Howard Gleckman, an Urban Institute Fellow, well-known journalist and author of Caring for Our Parents, says, “Imagine a system that makes it possible for older adults to live in the setting most appropriate for them, links their personal care with medical treatment, and provides the financial support for it.”
Gleckman will talk about where older adults now get their care, how to plan for the care an elder may need, and the importance of family communication as we age.
